Enter the Leroy Jefferson Williams, Jr. Team Challenge!
Throughout the Leroy's life, and especially during his illness, he would often say, "life is a challenge." The Leroy Jefferson Williams, Jr. Foundation, Inc. honors his struggles to fight Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma and are also challenging the broader community to enter the Team Challenge. We have created an environment where local churches, corporations, schools, friends, and community organizations can pool together resources and run as a team and compete against one another for one cause.
We encourage you to consider being a team captain for your church, corporation, school, friends, or community organization and help recruit walkers or runners who would love the opportunity to "take steps" together to battle Cutaneous Lymphoma. If you are interested in becoming a team captain here's what to do:
Send an email to info@musicmovesmerun.com. Once we have been notified of your team's desire to participate, we will add you team to the dropdown list on the online registration form.
You will then guide your team members to select your team during the online registration process.
Rules
The team with the highest number of points wins the challenge.
An individual’s overall standing in the race will earn points for the team.
Awards will be presented to:
Top three placed teams with highest number of points
Largest Team Participation
Top CEO/Leader (Must be President or CEO of your company, Top Clergy, Team Captain or highest ranking position in your organization)
Example: *There are 487 athletes participating in the event.
Team "Acme" decides that they want to promote their new wellness program and this event would be a great way to showcase their employee athletes. They have 15 people enter the Leroy Jefferson Williams, Jr. Team Challenge, their president Carl participates.13 people participating in the Team Challenge are all folks who are new to wellness and they decided to celebrate their achievement by walking (Carl joined them) – so they took positions 14 through 1. Carl finishes last and earns Team "Acme" 1 point. 14 participants from Team "Acme" (including Carl) earned 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 points, respectively. Paul is an experienced runner and he finishes 6th overall and earns Team Acme 482 points. Team Acme accrues 482 + 14 + 13 + 12 + 11 + 10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 588 points.
